The Visitors Center is open seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day and from its large deck, observe ships from countries around the world transporting grain, iron ore, steel and other goods as they are lowered or raised approximately 38 feet. The highway continues through a tunnel which incredibly, runs underneath the locks.
