Entrance fees to the National Parks that charge admission have seen a modest increase this year to cover a backlog of maintenance projects across the National Park System. The America the Beautiful Annual Pass remains the same cost. At $80, it offers exceptional value with one year of unlimited access, for you and all passengers in a personal vehicle at sites that charge a per vehicle fee — or up to four adults at sites that charge per person fee — to over 2,000 parks managed by the USDA Forest Service, National Park Service (NPS), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the Bureau of Reclamation (USBR). Children 15 and under are admitted free.
The open road calls but are you ready? Taking a road trip is always an adventure, but not always the adventure you intended it to be. Being prepared is the key to a fun, safe trip. Check out our Safety Tips and things to bring.
There’s nothing more panic inducing than seeing “No Service” or having your phone battery die in the middle of a road trip. Or worrying about phone data overage fees. That’s why we recommend using a GPS unit for navigation. Export any trips you have planned on myscenicdrives.com, or upload any of our pre-planned scenic drives. Our documentation has the information you need to upload from different GPS devices. We support various file formats, including Google Earth (KML), Garmin Communicator, BaseCamp and MapSource (GPX), Co-Pilot Live (TRP), Microsoft Streets and Trips, TomTom itineraries (ITN), TomTom Places of Interest (OV2), Comma Separated Files (CSV), and Tab Separated Files (TSV). And, it’s always a good idea to print out a copy of the directions.
