Point Washington State Forest is a refreshing sight after huge expanses of beach and water. This 15,000-acre forest boasts many hiking and biking trails on which you can spot deer and fox, or rare species such as American kestrel, gopher tortoise, flatwoods salamander, white-topped pitcher plant and the world’s largest population of Curtiss’ sandgrass. Note in season, there is hunting here.
