Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge is a “Globally Important Bird Area”. Grab your camera and binoculars to observe more than 200 species of birds including 500 pairs of state-endangered Henslow’s sparrows. All visitors are required to watch a safety video at the refuge office before entering. The refuge is open Mondays, Fridays, and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. There is an entrance fee or use your America the Beautiful Pass.
