Tremper Mound was built by the Hopewell Culture which existed in Ohio from 100 B.C. to A.D. 500. Excavations have found hundreds of artifacts, including intricately-carved stone effigy pipes, and the remnants of a large charnel house, which is a building for storing the remains of the deceased.
