Louis and Raynette Gregory purchased the 100-acre property in 1996 to fulfill a dream that began with Louis’ great-grandfather Cesare Locatelli who brought the art of wine-making when he immigrated from Italy. Locatelli Vineyards and Winery features an intimate, cozy tasting room brightened with tile murals of scenes of Italy, and is very much family-owned and operated. Locatelli specializes in limited production of estate grown red wines such as Cabernet Blanc, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Of interest, is their Aglianico, a rustic Italian varietal made from grapes sourced from a nearby vineyard, with notes of Amaretto, strawberries and ripe cranberries, and pairs well with aged cheeses. They also offer Zinfandel, Merlot and Sangiovese, as well as red blends. Of white wines, they offer Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat Canelli. Locatelli Winery partners with Mission San Miguel, hosting a wine experience with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to assisting Mission renovation efforts.
Tasting Room: Open Friday — Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Or by appointment. Small tasting charge, waived with wine purchase.
