Visit the Mission San Miguel Arcangel, a National Historical Landmark, and the 16th California mission in the chain founded by Franciscan friars on July 25, 1797 to convert the local Native American Salinan peoples. It remains a parish church to present day. Known as the Jewel of the California Missions, it is the only mission with original fresco paintings and artifacts which can be explored on a self-guided tour. A small fee is charged which helps to restore damage from an earthquake in 2003. Open Daily, 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
